When you submit
If you hold compose rights but aren’t an approver on an account with an active workflow, submitting (via Schedule or Publish immediately) sends the post to Pending and notifies the approver pool. You can attach a proposed publish time by setting a schedule time before you submit, which the approver can accept or change. Your post isn’t locked; you can still edit it.
After approval
The approver decides how it goes out at sign-off:
- Publish now → the post publishes immediately.
- Schedule for… → the post becomes Scheduled and publishes at the chosen time.
- Publish together with the other accounts (posts with more than one account) → the approved account is held until the post’s other accounts are approved, then they publish together.
Posts that target several accounts
A single post can target accounts that need approval alongside accounts that publish directly. When you submit it, the accounts that need approval wait as Pending, and the others are scheduled or published without waiting.
When approval can’t proceed
Approver eligibility is checked against current publish rights. If everyone in the pool loses the ability to approve (for example, publish rights are removed), pending posts are blocked and surfaced to whoever manages the workflow — the author sees a clear “waiting on approver setup” state rather than a silent stall. Keep workflows current after personnel changes so posts don’t get stuck.
Re-approval on edits
A non-approver’s content edit invalidates any prior approval and returns the post to Pending — even if it was already Scheduled. A schedule-only change doesn’t. See Approving and editing posts.
